WHERE: Claines Church, Worcester
WHEN: 14th May 2005
HOW THEY MET
David and Sally met through mutual friends in their local pub, ‘The Land Oak’ in Kidderminster.
PROPOSAL
David proposed to Sally while on a gentle ski run through picturesque trees in Zell am Zee, Austria.
SHE WORE
Sally bought her beautiful strapless gown from Pantiles Bride in Henley-in-Arden. It was a Suzanne Neville ‘Beauty of the Night’ dress in ivory silk zibeline with duchesse satin panelling on the bodice.
ACCESSORIES
Sally accessorised her gown with a mid-length veil and pretty tiara along with a beautiful 1 carat diamond necklace that she borrowed from a friend. She also wore her Nan's engagement ring, some diamond stud earrings and a delicate bracelet. Her shoes were classic pointed ivory stilettos by Gabriella & Lucido.
HE WORE
David wore a classic top hat and tails with a pale gold and ivory waistcoat, and a pale gold cravat to match the bridesmaids dresses. All the men's outfits were hired from Nicholas Smith in Worcester.
THE BRIDESMAIDS
The three adult bridesmaids wore full-length, pale gold duchesse satin strapless dresses from Berketex Bride and the two little bridesmaids wore pretty ivory Jasper Conran dresses from Debenhams with a pale gold sash bow added.
THE FLOWERS
Their theme was lilies and roses. Sally modelled her bouquet on Katy Hill’s flowers (ex Blue Peter presenter) when she got married back in 1998. She’d saved pictures from a magazine from all that time ago!
THE TRANSPORT
The couple decided to hire two fabulous Rolls Royce Silver Clouds in silver and royal blue, from Barrie James Rolls Royce & Bentley Hire.
SPECIAL MOMENTS
Sally’s granddad had sadly died at the end of January 2005 so she was really upset about him not being there, then her Nan fell over two weeks before the wedding and broke her hip so she didn’t think she’d be able to be there either. However they allowed her out of hospital in a wheelchair to come to the church which was very special for Sally. They also had the Kidderminster Male Choir who sang an Irish Blessing that Dave’s dad and his friend had arranged to music especially for the happy couple.
THE RECEPTION
The reception was held at the Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove. They had a marquee attached to the grand house with gold drapes which co-ordinated with their colour scheme perfectly. The table decorations were simple tea lights with gold and silver confetti scattered around and the table centres were tall vases with two stems of lilies and bear grass. David and Sally named the tables after hotels in Las Vegas!
THE CAKE
The classic three-tier cake was iced in ivory with pale gold ribbon around the base of each tier and ivory roses on the top.
MUSIC
David & Sally had a string quartet playing when the guests arrived and through the drinks reception and meal. They then had a disco in the evening playing a real mixture of music including AC-DC for Dave!
BRIDES TIP
‘Make your own stationery. It saved us so much money, added a personal touch and I really enjoyed making them. I would also recommend finding a good local florist who will listen to you and do exactly what you want.’
GROOMS TIP
Let the bride make all of the decisions!!!
THE HONEYMOON
David and Sally flew to San Francisco for four nights then hired a car and went to Lake Tahoe for two nights, Yosemite National Park for three nights, Death Valley for a night, Las Vegas for two nights and the Grand Canyon for two nights. It was the most amazing holiday they’ve ever had!
