WHERE: Glaisdale, North Yorkshire
WHEN: May 2005
HOW THEY MET
Emma and Stuart were at university together in 1994 and shared a house with friends there. It wasn’t until seven years later when they met again at a friend’s birthday party that they fell in love
SHE WORE
A fantastic ivory Suzanne Neville dress, ‘Cabochon’, from Scarlet Poppy in Pudsey. It had a strapless bodice and full, A-line skirt. Emma’s funky tiara was a great choice – she liked is for its modern style, and her single layer veil was dotted with crystals
HE WORE
Stuart and his groomsmen hired their navy morning suits from Austin Reed. The couple bought them all ties in varying shades of pink and Emma’s Aunt made their pink silk handkerchiefs to match
THE BRIDESMAIDS
Were Emma’s three sisters and Stuart’s sister. They wore pale pink knee-length skirts and cream halternecked tops from Emma’s favourite shop, Coast.

THE FLOWERS
The couple wanted to include white roses in their flowers, to represent the Yorkshire Rose! They wanted a modern, but country feel, and chose roses, lisianthus, rosemary and whitebeam. Larger arrangements also had pink and white lilies
THE CEREMONY
Was carefully arranged and very special to the couple. They chose the hymns Be Thou My Vision and Stuart’s dad’s favourite, How Great Thou Art. They included biblical passages, and also a reading from the children’s book Guess How Much I Love You? This was read by Emma’s sister and its lovely story fitted well within the proceedings
THE RECEPTION
Emma and Stuart admit they are children at heart, and named their tables after childhood sweets. Guests were treated to their particular sweet and a lot of trading went on between tables!
THE CAKE
Was made by Emma’s family, with three tiers of fruit, sponge and chocolate cake, decorated in pink and white, with pink hearts springing out from the cake-topper
THE FAVOURS
Were inspired! The couple gave ladies mini versions of the book, Guess How Much I Love You? and men received Top Trumps cards!
THE MUSIC
For the last hour the couple played their favourite tunes; Stone Roses, The Charlatans and Shed Seven. It was great to have all of their friends dancing – and no Time Warp! All of the personal touches on Emma and Stuart’s day were special. Especially memorable was Stuart’s mum, who is renowned for her baking skills, making the couple a delicious spread of tea and cakes for their guests to enjoy after the ceremony.
