Real Wedding - Rachael and Dave

Real Wedding - Rachael and Dave

WHERE: St. Mary's Church, Camarthen

WHEN: 4th November 2006

PHOTOGRAPHER: Photo-J

HOW THEY MET

Rachael and Dave met at work; they hit it off straight away and were together within a couple of months.

THE PROPOSAL

Despite having a Christmas proposal all planned, Dave decided to propose to Rachael spontaneously one evening at a friend’s house.

SHE WORE

Rachael bought her stunning dress from Ame Chloe Bridal shop, Ammanford. Designed by Mon Cheri (24200) the stunning ivory, spun gold dress featured a low back with pretty intricate beading, and was covered in organza with a silk trim and detail.

ACCESSORIES

Rachael wore some fabulous Jimmy Choo’s, which complimented her dress perfectly. Amanda Wyatt designed her delicate silver tiara and she wore an ivory veil with a satin trim. Her feather bolero was bought from Jasper Conran. She completed her look by wearing a matching teardrop necklace, bracelet and earrings set.

HE WORE

Dave hired his chocolate brown suit from Formally Yours. He teamed it with a gold waistcoat and an ivory tie and hankie; the three best men and two pageboys wore ivory waistcoats instead. He wore a mango calla lily for his buttonhole.

THE BRIDESMAIDS

The three adult bridesmaids wore chocolate brown, Alfred Sung floor-length corseted dresses. The two gorgeous little fairies wore dresses which were made by a seamstress exactly to Rachaels specification.

THE FLOWERS

The couple chose a mixture of mango calla lilies with orange roses and several red roses to deepen the overall colour.

TRANSPORT

Rachael’s uncle kindly provided the vintage 1934 Rolls Royce limousine in sophisticated maroon and black.

THE CEREMONY

Being half an hour late made Rachael rather nervous, but as she entered the church to Pachebel’s Canon in D she was on top of the world. The ceremony went off without a hitch, apart from the reverend dropping the ring! Bury Port’s Male voice choir sang the hymns beautifully and even made a special effort to learn their exit song, Andy Williams’ “Can’t take my eyes off you”. They left the church to a gorgeous blue sky.

THE CAKE

Special Occasions of Mynydd Y Garreg made the fantastic cake. The three tiers were designed to look like suitcases with a cute “Rachael and Dave” topper.

RECEPTION

In the centre of the tables they had a square tank vase holding 16 orange roses sitting on a square mirror plate with tea lights. There were orange and red rose petals scattered around them as well as sparkly table diamonds. Mandy from RSVP Co-coordinators installed a fairy light backdrop behind the top table - it added a really special atmosphere to the room.

FAVOURS

The ladies were given a wooden welsh love spoon and the men received a wooden puzzle each. The children received a box of toys and colouring books to keep them occupied during speeches and the babies had a teddy holding a bag of milk chocolate buttons.

MUSIC

The couple hired the fantastic “The Electric Band” through Affordaband and the dance floor was filled all night.

THEME

Rachael tried to keep her colours autumnal, in keeping with the November date. As she is Welsh she added some Welsh touches.

SPECIAL MOMENTS

“There is so much to remember! Dave arranged for champagne to be taken to my mums for us to drink while we were getting ready which was very sweet. He also bought myself, two of the bridesmaids and my mum a spa day which was such a nice treat after all the hard work that went in during the run up to the wedding.”

BRIDE'S TIP

“The little details really do make a difference and are appreciated by the guests - it makes all the worry worthwhile. Use e-bay, it's great as you can get some real bargains. One of the best things we did was arrange for a face painter for the children, they absolutely loved it and we have some great photos. Above all, enjoy the day as it really does go by in a flash - everyone says it, but its true!”

GROOM'S TIP

“Surprise your fiance with champagne, chocolates and strawberries delivered to the hen party – she really will have a weekend to remember.”

THE HONEYMOON

They spent ten nights in the amazing 20 Degrees Sud Hotel in Grand Baie, Mauritius.
