WHERE: St Anne’s Church, Bagshot and afterwards at Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa WHEN: 3rd May 2008 How they met We met through a mutual friend on a night out in Covent Garden Proposal Daniela was invited to speak at a conference in Dubai and Alex decided to join her for the trip. On the last day they were on a boat trip on Dubai Creek when Alex popped the question. He had the ring made back in London and took it with him where he had to hide it for five days! She wore Daniela looked stunning in her Benjamin Roberts gown, made from Godavari silk in light ivory. The strapless gown was adorned with crystal and pearl detailing across the bust and at the waist Jewellery During the day Daniela wore a matching crystal necklace, earrings and bracelet set with a tiara. She changed in the evening to some very sparkly chandelier earrings with a matching bracelet. She swapped the tiara for a comb at the same time He wore Alex bought his black suit in Germany from Cerruti, the waistcoats, cravats and handkerchiefs were hired from Moss Bros Bridesmaids Both adult bridesmaids were pretty in pink in Alfred Angelo dresses. The dresses were strapless and gathered at the waist to match Daniela’s dress. The two flower girls wore gorgeous tutu dresses and pink boleros Flowers The church and venue was decorated with roses, lilies and gerberas in shades of pink. Daniela carried a pretty bouquet of pink roses and crystals; the bridesmaids carried a bouquet of ivory roses. The flower girls had fairy wands of long stemmed roses. The groom wore a lovely pink and ivory buttonhole with crystals and the groomsmen and my father wore ivory rose buttonholes Transport The couple were lucky enough to have the use of a Rolls Royce 'Phantom', which was absolutely amazing Reception Décor Scattered on the tables were Swarovski crystals and rose petals with pink rose domes in mirrored vases in the centre. Each of the tables was named after different types of roses, the table name signs were made by Daniela and the seating plan and place names all matched each other Cake Jeni’s Cakes made a selection of mini cakes, decorated in ivory and pink coloured icing with sugar roses on top. The top tier was fruitcake and the rest of the mini cakes were chocolate and banana Favours The gentleman received crystal bottle toppers and the ladies had pink rose ball candles Music During the church service a choir and a famous organist - Jonathan Mills - played beautifully. A harpist gave the guests some lovely background music in the afternoon and a DJ got everyone dancing until the early hours Bride’s tip "Make the most of every second of the day and the preparation leading up to it...I loved making my decorations - this may not be easy for everyone - but I put so much of myself into the day and when my husband thanked me and wondered where I found the energy, I was on top of the world. It really was worth the effort. Always keep an eye on the budget - keep a spreadsheet with every item on it." Special Touches Daniela shared some time in the house with her Dad while everyone else was on their way to church. They managed to have a glass of wine - Daniela reflected: "It was so lovely - I think he was more nervous than I was." Groom’s tip "Don’t leave your speech writing to the last minute. I was quite stressed about it and put if off, and I ended up writing it on the morning of the wedding. In fact I think we have a photo of me editing it at the top table during our meal - I think I delivered a good speech though." Honeymoon Daniela and Alex jetted off to Pimalai Resort in Koh Lanta, Thailand for two weeks of relaxation. They even had their own infinity pool |
