How they met
Hayley and Chris met on a line-dancing night, the instructor who happens to be Hayley’s best friend, tried her hand at a spot of match making and it worked!
Proposal
Hayley thought that her surprise birthday trip to New York was her present, but little did she know that at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty Chris was going to propose.
She wore
Hayley bought her beautiful A-line gown from Petticoats and Pearls, Tutbury. The white strapless dress was decorated with pretty pearls and diamantes and the shaped panel at the front was covered in sparkly crystals.
Jewellery accessories
Hayley wore a delicate necklace and tiara made by Swarovski which matched perfectly with her long crystal veil from Petticoats and Pearls. Her elegant pearl earrings were from Harrods and her slip on shoes with shimmery crystal straps were by Pink.
He wore
Chris hired his morning suit from Brigdens Menswear and bought his black shoes from Next. His black jacket made the lilac and white waistcoat stand out and the outfit was completed with grey striped trousers.
Bridesmaids
Hayley’s Auntie spent many hours making the six bridesmaids dresses. The eldest three wore beautiful lilac dresses and the younger three wore a combination of lilac and white.
Flowers
Hayley and her Grandma made the bouquets themselves. The bride’s bouquet contained a stunning selection of orchids with crystals weaved into them. The bridesmaids carried silk crocuses with ivy leaves and pearl strands in the middle.
Transport
The bridesmaids arrived in a fabulous white stretch Limo and Hayley and Chris hired a white Daimler. They hired two coaches for their guests as there was a forty five minute drive form the church to the reception.
Ceremony
“ I cried as soon as I got to the corner of the aisle and saw Chris all dressed up and waiting for me. The sun shone through the window and seemed to cast a light around me like a glow, which we believe was my Grandad looking down at us as he’d sadly passed away before the wedding - it was a special and comforting moment. Chris wanted “ You’ll never walk alone” played on the organ while we signed the register which was a bit different.”
Reception
The table centres were glass fishbowls filled with crocuses and lavender. Table name cards were printed on silver metal with a picture of the theme of New York and a short memory message from their trip there.
Cake
The delicious three-tier fruit cake was decorated in white icing and pretty crocuses with a lace style layer covering the top of the cake.
Favours
The female guests were given pretty lilac coloured favor bags filled with lilac and white chocolate degrees and printed in silver with the couple’s names and date of the wedding. The male guests were given silver top hats filled with chocolate footballs and the men on the top table had lilac chests filled with chocolate degrees.
Theme
The colours lilac, white and dark purple carried throughout the day with New York thrown in at the reception.
Bride’s Tip
“Make a budget and stick to it. We made nearly everything for our wedding, which saved us so much money - if you can find the time and patience to have a go. It was very satisfying to see it all on the day and the guests’ reactions. Simple is best."
Special Touches
Hayley’s dog went to the reception dressed in a bride's dog coat.
Honeymoon
Hayley and Chris spent two amazing weeks traveling in Canada.
Groom’s tip
“Make sure you state your feelings towards the wedding plans as it is your day too and get involved as much as possible as it makes it much more fun.”
