How they met
Danielle and Leighton fell in love when they met each other whilst on a night out.
Proposal
Whilst staying at the Lowry hotel, Manchester Danielle was getting ready for a meal in the hotels restaurant, as she turned around to look in the mirror Leighton was down on one knee with a beautiful princess cut diamond in his hand.
She wore
Danielle bought her gorgeous ivory dress from Lovestory Bridal, the in house designer at Tickled Pink, Hatfield. Made from silk the two-piece fairytale gown featured delicate crystal detail and beading along the sweetheart neckline flowing out into a full skirt and train.
Accessories
Danielle wore a crown style tiara, which was covered in crystals all in different shades of pink. With elegant simple little princess cut diamond studs and matching necklace.
He Wore
Leighton’s line of work meant that he had some great contacts in menswear. He designed his handsome black tail suit from Italy by Corneliani. The dusky pink lining, cravat and handkerchief were made from the same material as the bridesmaids’ dresses.
Bridesmaids
The adult bridesmaids wore stunning dusky pink duchess satin dresses, these featured a sweetheart neckline and pretty crystal beading on the bodice with a long straight skirt. The flower girls’ wore ivory dresses by Jasper Conran at Debenhams with a crystal detail sash around the waist
Flowers
Danielle’s lovely hand tied bouquet consisted of diamante studded aqua roses with ivory calla lilies wrapped with dusky pink foil. The adult bridesmaids carried the same style as the bride in a smaller version tied with ivory foil. The flower girls carried a simple single rose and a single calla lily. The fantastic church arrangements were also used at the reception. These were a beautiful mix of aqua roses, calla lilies, green goddess callas and lots of other pink flowers.
Transport
A modern silver Bentley Arnage transported Danielle and Leighton.
Ceremony
“The ceremony was at 1pm, I arrived about 10 minutes late - but so did my older brother who got stuck in traffic. I wasn’t nervous one bit. My dad walked me down the aisle to Wagners bridal march, I was trying so hard not to walk too fast, When I got to the front Leighton was crying, he just kept saying "I cant look at you your making me cry" fortunately I took it as a compliment. My mother in Law did a beautiful reading. Dear lord and father of mankind and give me joy in my heart, were our choice of hymns, my mum cried all the way through, Leighton Looked amazing and I couldn’t stop smiling. Our order of service was hand made with ivory card and dusky pink hearts. The ladies all received cones filled with dusky pink rose petals outside the church to throw.”
Reception
Large glass fish bowls sat on the tables, complete with ivory and pink calla lilies wrapped around the inside with pink pebbles in the bottom, battery powered tea-light candles were put in the middle of these in the evening to make them glow. The menus and table plan matched the stationery, ivory with dusky pink hearts all made by simply unique cards. Dusky pink rose petals were scattered on the tables along with silver shiny hearts. The chairs were dressed in ivory covers with dusky pink sashes with a big bow at the back.
Cake
The yummy three tiered fruit-cake was a real centre piece, decorated in ivory icing with pink calla lilies in between each layer to give the effect that they were holding the tiers up. There was a pretty arrangement of sugar calla lilies and diamantes on the top of the cake.
Favours
Ladies were given pretty ivory boxes decorated with dusky pink and silver ribbon and a dusky pink heart containing dolly mixture sweets. Made by simply unique cards. The gentleman were given embossed envelopes containing a lottery scratch card, Danielle’s brother came out on top as he won £25. All the champagne glasses contained a packet of love hearts.
Music
A string quartet played during the drinks reception to keep guest entertained during their champagne and canapés. A DJ played a selection of songs through the evening, the first dance was to the Backstreet Boys “I'll never break your heart.” Leighton’s friend Chris sang R Kelly's “I believe I can fly” as their second dance song. The happy couple then danced with their loved ones until the early hours.
Theme
The day was based around fairytale ideas with a hint of glamour. The colours that appeared were dusky pink, ivory and a touch of silver.
Bride’s Tip
“ If I could do change anything I would make sure I had a receiving line as I didn’t manage to get round all of the daytime guest before the evening guests stated arriving.”
Special Touches
“ My dads eyes just lit up as he saw me walking down the stairs it was a sight I’ll remember forever. Also, I was so tired when we finally went to bed at 3am that I laid down on the bed and thought “ I’ll just lay here a minute, then I’ll get my pj's on” the next thing I knew I woke up at 7:30am still in my dress, shoes, and tiara, I definitely had my moneys worth out of my outfit! My grandma passed away some years ago and the florist was a good friend of hers, when the flowers arrived she had made a corsage to sit next to my grandma’s picture on my mums table which brought a tear to our eyes. As a surprise my Mum had had a bride and groom bear made with matching outfits, these sat next to our cake.”
Honeymoon
Danielle and Leighton carried their fairytale theme through to their honeymoon and flew off to Orlando, Florida for two weeks. They had the most amazing time seeing the Cinderella castle and interacting with dolphins. They stayed in a villa for one week then went onto a Disney hotel for the second.
Groom’s Tip
“If your budget allows you make sure you invest in a bespoke made to measure suit as although my groomsmen looked fantastic I felt a million dollars all day.”
