How they met
Adele met Mark on a Boxing Day evening while drinking in their local pub.
Proposal
Mark and Adele were having a farewell drink in the pub with Marks friends before he went off to New Zealand to work for a month. Just as they were leaving the pub Mark was feeling a little emotional and while they were walking down the round he pulled Adele towards him to kiss her. That’s when Adele asked him to marry her.
She wore
Adele bought her gorgeous satin A-line gown from Halo and Ellis, Preston. The ivory strapless dress, complete with a long train, had a pretty butterfly, flower and diamante detail. With the corset-tied style back Adele looked every part the princess.
Accessories
In keeping with the butterflies on her dress, Adele wore a butterfly bracelet, necklace and earrings set from Jon Richard at Debenhams. Adele also wore Mark’s Mum’s wedding ring as a reminder of her on their special day.
He wore
Mark hired the classic Edwardian suits from Bride and Groom, Preston. The waistcoats were lilac and silver patterned with lilac ruche ties and handkerchiefs.
Bridesmaids
Their adult bridesmaid wore a lilac, strapless dress with lace-up back and pretty diamante detail down the front and a puddle train. The two flowergirl's dresses were from BHS & were Ivory with shimmery butterflies on them, tied at the back with a big butterfly bow. The pageboy suit, bought from BHS matched the grooms’ suit perfectly.
Flowers
Calla lilies and ivy featured as the main flower of the day. The male party wore Calla lily buttonholes and the bridesmaids had gorgeous corsages.
Transport
Adele and Mark travelled in a replica Silver Ghost Rolls Royce. The mother of the bride, Nan & Bridesmaids arrived in a classic navy and cream Daimler.
Ceremony
The ceremony was a traditional church affair, the priest who conducted the wedding ceremony has known Adele and her family for many years. Special prayers were said for Adele’s Dad & Mark’s mum who passed away a few years ago.
Reception Decor
Each table was decorated with balloons, and table diamonds from Curly Wurly Creations were added to give it that extra sparkle. Incorporated into the table plan and place names were pretty butterflies, courtesy of Diva Stationery.
Cake
With a fruit bottom layer, sponge in the middle and the top a chocolate sponge, this cake was the ultimate for cake lovers. Finished simply with a pretty butterfly.
Favours
The ladies were given lilac and silver butterfly favour boxes, complete with Thorntons chocolates and a breast cancer badge. The gents had cream tuxedo boxes with a miniature bottle of alcohol and small chocolate footballs. The children had Disney character pots filled with jelly tots.
Bride’s tip
“I would definitely recommend doing a speech. I was so glad I did it and I tried to thank everyone that was involved in our special day. Also I did a toast to the loved ones who were no longer with us, which went down very well. Also, take time out with your husband to have a quiet moment together.”
Honeymoon
Adele and Mark had a fantastic honeymoon in America - they visited San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas and New York. Whilst they were there Adele met up with a fellow forum friend Selluc23.
Groom’s tip
“If you are hiring your suits, try them on as soon as possible. A member of the party had trousers sent in the wrong size and he had to go to Preston the night before the wedding to get them changed!“
