WHERE: St Augustine's Priory, Kent
WHEN: 3rd June 2006
HOW THEY MET
Kate and Chris met on a night out with friends.
THE PROPOSAL
Chris wanted to be sure that Kate had said “yes” after initially popping the question in Tiffany’s, Paris. He asked her again as they walked along by the River Seine and then again the same evening on one knee on their balcony overlooking the Arc de Triomphe!
SHE WORE
Kate’s beautiful strapless dress came from Bridal Gown's by Jodi in Maidstone. The diamond white Maggie Sottero “Addison” gown was made of satin with lace and crystal detailing across the bust, and a petal shaped layer with lace underneath it. It had a corset back and when the lacing stopped a large panel of lace and crystal trailed from Kate’s waist to the bottom of the train.
ACCESSORIES
Kate wore a pretty tiara and a tulle veil embellished in sparkly crystals. Her bracelet consisted of diamante and blue and white pearls. She finished off her look with diamond stud earrings that Chris had bought her and a beautiful diamond necklace. Kate’s shoes were from the Rainbow collection.
HE WORE
Chris hired his suit from Moss Bros, Canterbury. He wore the Arundel suit with long jacket, a Cheltenham ivory waistcoat with hot pink cravat and handkerchief.
THE BRIDESMAIDS
The striking A-line dresses were a vibrant hot pink and fuchsia colour with delicate beading across the bust and ruching across the middle. A long section draped over the main dress went into a corset back finish.
THE FLOWERS
Kate’s bouquet consisted of pink calla lilies and hot pink gerberas decorated with diamante and hand tied in hot pink ribbon. The bridesmaid’s hand-tied bouquets consisted of hot and baby pink gerberas with diamante crystals. The ushers had baby pink gerbera buttonholes in contrast to the groom and the father-of-the-bride who had pink calla lily buttonholes.
TRANSPORT
They were collected at the end of the evening in a silver Mercedes that took them to their first night hotel.
RECEPTION
Tall vases were placed on square mirrors and filled with shattered glass pieces and three hot pink gerberas. The mirrors were covered in glass pebbles with gerberas and tea light candles. The top table had a beautiful flower arrangement of pink calla lilies, pink gerberas and foliage. They also had two floral chandeliers hanging from the ceiling of the marquee with light chandeliers for the evening.
THE CAKE
The delicious cake was made up of three tiers – one carrot, one sponge and one chocolate fudge. There was a shiny silver chiffon ribbon around the base of each tier decorated with hot pink gerberas and diamante.
FAVOURS
They gave their guests heart shaped shortbread cookies covered in pink icing, which doubled up as place cards.
THEME
The theme was hot pink, silver and diamante.
BRIDES TIP
“We went over on our budget quite a lot and to be honest I wouldn't change a thing. I think the most important thing is to make sure you are comfortable with your suppliers as a good or bad relationship can make all of the difference.”
SPECIAL MOMENTS
“The whole day was so amazing I can't pick anything out. I think the main thing was the fact that everyone had such a good time. I felt amazing as so many people said I looked stunning. During the ceremony Chris kept telling me he loved me and how beautiful I looked. He later said he was so taken back at how good I looked he felt so proud. We had 108 of our closest family and friends and yet it seemed like we were the only 2 people in the room. I was a bit nervous before the ceremony and walking down the aisle but Chris picked up on it and was making me smile and giggle through the ceremony.”
THE HONEYMOON
The happy couple spent an amazing fun-filled two weeks in Florida.
